BMW M1 E26
In the late 1970s, Lamborghini entered into an agreement with BMW to build a production racing car in sufficient quantity for homologation, but conflicts arose that prompted BMW to produce the car themselves. The resulting car was the BMW M1 which was in production from 1978 to 1981.
The M1 was BMW's first mass-produced mid-engined car.
A total of 453 were produced. The M1 was initially assembled in Turin, Italy, then final assembly and inspection in Munich, Germany.
